Congratulations. You just got your real estate license, but having your license doesn’t mean that people will be throwing business at your feet. It’s time to get the momentum train moving along. This train takes a lot of energy to get going, but once it picks up pace it can be the most rewarding thing to ever happen for you. So what should you be doing to create forward progress in your real estate business?
The most critical thing is to have an understanding of why there is such a high failure rate in this business. The reason a lot of people don’t make it is due to lack of leads. So the way to fight against this is to create a game plan of how you intend to get leads into your “pipeline”. There are many options to choose from. You can call for sale by owners, expired listings, circle prospect, open houses, or buy internet leads. However, all this can become overwhelming, so I would recommend that you pick just two for now. Eventually, you may want to consider a third, but for now the goal is to get you moving as quickly as possible. As many elite performers say, “success loves speed”.
Understand the importance of having as many conversations as possible. Having a conversation is the first step to building a relationship with someone you didn’t previously know. Relationships are the most important thing in the business world. The right relationships will be worth several deals over your career.
Another key component is not worrying about things you can’t control. You only have so much energy in the day, so if you are stressing out about that deal you just lost it will truly drain you. Instead of stressing about it take the future time you just saved and go find a couple new deals to start working. Successful people focus on the future, not the past.
Just because you are new does not mean that you are at a disadvantage. You are actually at an advantage. You have so much more time than a top producer to devote to your clients. It is important that you learn to convey this information to all of your prospects. You will begin listing one after another with just this simple mindset shift.
